How To google It Like Programmer
How to google that 💔💔error like a pro😎😎
When you first start learning how to code, you might feel guilty of using google to figure out how to do something😄. As they say, a software engineer is just a proffessional google searcher✌️.
A smart programmer knows very well that memorizing stuff [syntax, Data types, Algorithm], is just a waist of time. As a developer, googling has to be part of the culture🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼.
Without waisting much of your time, let us dive in..... let us look at five ways to google like a pro😎
1. Using Double Quotes to get exact search.
Lets consider this scenario, where you're coding along and some crazy message pops up in the console and ruins your day 💔.
In this case, what we do as developers is, we copy the message {error: message} and paste it in the google search bar. The problem with these method is that you might receive alot of irrelevant info🙃.. So to solve this, just insert your error copied from the console inside double qoutes before searching eg .....
“error copied from console“
This method helps you get the “exact“ thing you are searching for. Cool, hope it's clear. Lets move on.
2. How to get results only from a specific site
This one is really simple and at the same time easy to understand..... let's say you want to get info about react context Api from a site called url.com🙄. All you just need to do is to type or used the syntax below in your google search bar.
site: url.com react context Api
3. Excluding a particular search word you don't need
In this scenario the minus sign(-) comes in handy. Lets consider an example whereby you want to search on how to select Html Dom element without using jquery.. you can simply use the syntax below.
How to select Html Dom element -jQuery
Above syntax simply means “How tp select Dom element without the word jquery..“, in other word without using jquery..
4. How to Filter Out Content
Imagine you want to get some info on google only after a specific year😥. Then it will be wise to use the colon(:) operator.
(a) Using AFTER:
For example, let us say you want to get an ethical hacking course only after 2020😄, simple, just type the following with the after keyword.
Ethical hacking course AFTER:2020
(b) Using BEFORE:
In this case, let say you want to get the same course before 2020, we use ”Before” instead of ”AFTER”.
Ethical hacking course BEFORE:2020
(c). Searching Content based on a range of dates or numbers
Here, we use the two dot operator (..) seperating the two dates.
For example: Let say you are an app developer and you wish to know anouncement about flutter framework (Flutter is a framework use to build ios and android apps, together with Dart programming language, for those in doubt🙃) between 2020 and 2021, then you would be required to type the following
Flutter anouncement 2020..2021
Take note 😊 of the 2 dots seperating the 2 dates
5. How To Search For A Particular FILETYPE.
And finally let us wrap up with this one🤣. Searching for a particular filetype comes in handy, when you want to get your content in a specific file type. For example .jpg, .jpeg, .pdf
For Example: searching for php pdf course, the following syntax might be helpful✊
FILETYPE: pdf php
Goes same for other file type👊
